WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Thursday he had authorized "targeted" U.S. airstrikes against Islamic State fighters in northern Iraq and military airdrops of humanitarian supplies to besieged religious minorities there to prevent a "potential act of genocide."
