CBS: "Anti-climb" spikes to be added to White House fence

The National Park Service and the Secret Service plan to add spikes atop the White House fence.

The spikes, described to CBS News as "pencil protrusions," are temporary "anti-climb" measures.

The plan is expected to get the approval of the National Capital Planning Commission on May 7. Construction would begin thereafter.

Per‎manent security renovations to the White House complex are expected to be approved later this year. Construction would start in summer or fall 2016.
