Broadchurch is centred on a small coastal town in the south-west of England. When the body of a local body is found on the beach, a murder case is opened. Newly arrived police detective Alec Hardy is assigned the case and partnered with local sergeant, Ellie Miller. As the investigation proceeds, fear and suspicion grow and long-held secrets start to emerge. It seems as if the small community will be torn apart. David Tennant stars as Alec Hardy with Olivia Colman as Ellie Miller. Other cast members include Arthur Darvill, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and David Bradley.

In season 2, picking up the story a few months later, the community of Broadchurch is still devastated by the revelation of Danny Latimer's killer. But as the culprit goes to trial a shocking final twist reopens old wounds and plunges the boy's family and their friends right back into the nightmare. Meanwhile Hardy is drawn back into an old, unsolved case when the main suspect reappears, and he begs his former colleague Ellie Miller to help him to solve it. David Tennant and Olivia Colman and many of the original cast return alongside new faces including James D'Arcy, Charlotte Rampling, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Eve Myles.

A third season of Broadchurch goes into production next year.
