David Tennant will be the first guest star on the new series of Channel 4's award-winning topical comedy talk show when it returns in the new year. Host Adam Hills made the announcement at the climax of tonight's Christmas show which saw him and co-hosts Josh Widdecombe and Alex Brooker joined by Grayson Perry, Aisling Bea and Basil Brush.

The Last Leg launched in 2012 as a parallel show to the London Paralympics, but it now has a broader current affairs remit. It also has a reputation for social justice and for bringing disability humour to the forefront, as hosts Hills and Brooker poke fun at their own disabilities.

David, who is currently in the middle of shooting the Dean Devlin-directed thriller Bad Samaritan in the USA, will be talking about the new series of ITV crime drama Broadchurch, due to start in early 2017. David will also be preparing for his return to the West End stage in the lead role in Patrick Marber's Don Juan in Soho.

The Last Leg will be back in its regular live Friday night slot on Channel 4 at the end of January.
