AUDIO: David Tennant Talks You, Me & Him And More With Zoe Ball
David Tennant joined Zoe Ball on her BBC Radio 2 show earlier today to talk about some of his upcoming projects, including the exciting new romcom You, Me And Him. The movie premieres tomorrow evening at the Glasgow Film Festival before going on national release from April 12th.
You, Me And Him follows a same sex couple played by Lucy Punch and Faye Marsay, who are debating whether to bring children into their relationship. As the disagreement forces a wedge into their relationship, they each start to make some dubious decisions, resulting in both of them becoming pregnant at the same time. David plays the couple's neighbour, John, who is responsible for one of the pregnancies.
David said of his character, "I am the him...we, am I the him? I don't want to give too much away!"
He added, "He's a bit of a twit. He's recently divorced...and he's someone enjoying something of a second adolescence. He's got the hipster beard and a man bun and the rather tragic wardrobe...he's in the throes of a midlife crisis. And the fact that he's living next door to two sexy lesbians is just the best thing that could ever have happened to him - and that makes him all the more deeply tragic."
The film was very much a family and friends affair for David, produced by his wife Georgia Tennant with Phin Glynn, her partner in production company Bad Penny, and written and directed by another old friend, Daisy Aitkens. It also boasts a cast full of his acting associates.
"We got friends involved, Sarah Parish, who I've known for years, Nina Sosanya, who plays the gynaecologist who doesn't like to talk about ladies' bits, there's lots of old pals in there, and we had a great time," he said.
David also discussed his roles in Mary Queen Of Scots (released later this year) and Good Omens (out early 2019).
