28 Israeli jets fired about 60 rockets in overnight strikes on Syria

Some 28 Israeli aircraft fired around 60 air-to-surface rockets in a massive overnight strike in Syria, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. Syrian air-defense systems managed to intercept more than half of the missiles.
A total of 70 projectiles, including 60 air-to-surface rockets and more than 10 surface-to-surface missiles, hit Iranian military targets and Syrian air-defense systems near Damascus and in the south of the country on Thursday morning, the Russian military said in a statement.

28 Israeli F-15 and F-16 planes were involved in the attack,” the ministry said. “Syrian air-defense systems shot down more than half of the rockets as they repelled the Israeli attack.”
Israeli forces bombed the Syrian territory for two hours between 1:45am and 3:45am local time on Thursday. The attack was carried out under the pretext of allegations that Iranian forces had earlier hit Israeli targets in the Golan Heights.
The damage inflicted on Iranian military and Syrian civilian infrastructure by the airstrikes is being evaluated.
Earlier, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that all its aircraft had safely returned after one of its most extensive attacks in years. Tel-Aviv claims that it was carried out in retaliation to 20 rockets launched at Israeli targets in the Golan Heights by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp’s Quds Force.

“Four of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome and the rest landed on Syrian territory,” the IDF said, according to Ynet, adding that the incident had resulted in no damage or casualties.
The allegations were denied by a member of the Iranian parliament's commission, Abolfazl Hassan Beigi, who accused Israel of “lying,” as Iran has “no military presence” or bases in Syria, Sputnik reports.

Syrian air defense systems have intercepted several missiles launched from Israeli jets after Tel Aviv reportedly targeted the Syrian army in the area of the Golan Heights, SANA reported.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported, citing a military source that the army’s air defenses had “shot down dozens of Israeli missiles, preventing most of them from reaching their targets,” however, some of the rockets managed to hit radars and an ammunition depot. Israel, in turn, said it had retaliated against Iranian forces in Syria, which had launched around 20 rockets at Israeli frontline positions. SANA released the footage, showing the moment Damascus brought down Israeli missiles:

In the meantime, Israel's Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said that Tel Aviv’s forces had hit "nearly all the Iranian infrastructure in Syria" and stressed that no objects were struck on Israeli territory.
"We remain on high alert and vigilant, and we monitor Iranian activity in Syria. We do not want to escalate the situation, but we will respond to a new Iranian attack, we are ready to give a powerful response. We caution the Iranians against it," military spokesman Jonathan Conricus told reporters.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Israeli jets fired some 60 missiles at several targets in Syria in response to what Tel Aviv has described as an Iranian attack on Israeli-held Golan Heights.
The attack came less than 24 hours after the Syrian air defenses managed to intercept two Israeli missiles in the southern outskirts of Damascus in the al-Kisweh area. SANA reported that at least two people were killed in an explosion caused by one of the two interceptions, while western monitoring groups claimed that Tuesday night’s strikes had also left several Iranian nationals dead.

In the wake of the attack, a source at Beirut International Airport told Sputnik that Israeli aircraft had violated Lebanese airspace at the time of the suspected strikes; Tel Aviv, however, has refused to comment.

The SANA news agency has also published security camera footage showing the interception of an Israeli missile on Tuesday.

The mass-media is absolutely failing to cover this story, and when any of them DO, the only thing being reported is that "Iran launches 20 missiles into Israel from Syria."  There is almost TOTAL omission of the fact that Israel started this by firing tank and artillery shells at the Syrian Army and the Iranians inside Syria.  When the Iranians fired BACK, Israel is calling THAT "an attack."
