Magnitude 6.7 earthquake strikes off coast of Vanuatu



A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck north of Ambrym Island in the Vanuatu archipelago.
The epicentre of the shallow quake was located a few kilometres off the tip of Ambrym, a triangle-shaped island that is sparsely populated.
The Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management said their was no tsunami threat to New Zealand following the quake.
It was the second large earthquake Wednesday, after a magnitude 7.3 earthquake hit north Venezuela.
