David Tennant was a guest on BUILD Series NYC today to promote his new US comedy series Camping.

Camping stars Jennifer Garner and David Tennant as Kathryn and Walt, a not-so-happily married couple. A meticulously planned outdoor trip to celebrate Walt’s 45th birthday is derailed by uninvited guests and forces of nature, turning the weekend into a test of marriage and friendships.

“It was a little, closed community we would enter everyday… It felt safe. It didn’t feel like anyone was trying to be funnier than anyone. Everyone just felt comfortable with their characters” said David of his close connection with his co stars who also included Juliette Lewis, Brett Gelman and Ione Skye.

Camping is a remake of the Julia Davis' Sky Atlantic comedy of the same name and David says the irony of a British actor playing an American in an American remake of a British show wasn't lost on him “It’s quite weird to play an American version and American character of a British show that I’ve had my mates act in!”

From executive producers Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner of Girls, Camping, premieres October 14 on HBO.
